Title: Instrumento de Medición del Pensamiento Estratégico en los Rectores Universitarios Abstract: The objective of this work is to design an instrument to measure the strategic thinking of vice-chancellors. Through a theoretical review and content analysis of previous studies, three dimensions are specified, which comprise seven variables, 27 indicators and 36 items. The design follows the Delphi method as a dynamic process of change and feedback until consensus is reached among the group of experts participating in the validation. The reliability analysis of the instrument is performed using the V-Aiken validity coefficient, and its internal consistency is confirmed with the Cronbach’s Alpha index. An instrument structured in two sections is presented. The first section consists of four items related to the knowledge system. The second section includes 32 Likert-type scale items, which measure the essential elements of decision-making, the system of skills and attitudes, and the vice-chancellor’s management style. To outline the strategic thinking of those who occupy senior management positions in educational institutions could make it easier to set their management course and anticipate the effect of their decisions. It could also be considered as an additional criterion concerning the selection of their work teams. Classification-JEL: M0 Keywords: measuring instrument; strategic thinking; vice-chancellors.
