Title: ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT IN SME SIN MEXICO CITY Abstract: The objective of this study was the identification of environmental practices in SMEs in Mexico City, as well as the relationship between these practices and the companies and entrepreneurs ́characteristics. The data was collected through a structured and descriptive survey, on a sample of 300 voluntary companies. The main findings made it possible to determine that the most widely used environmental management practices are plant design and efficiency in the use of inputs and raw materials. This confirms the existence of a relationship between the industrial sector and the design of its production plants, as well as the consumption of energy, water, raw materials, implementation of policies on waste management, their certifications and/or training. Also, it ratifies the existence of an important relationship between the entrepreneurs ́educational level and the presence of certifications within the company.
